The breeder of one of the Rottweilers that nearly killed a woman in a brutal attack says she knows the dog was “peaceful” and believes the owner’s actions must have sparked the attack.
Nikita Piil, 31, was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital with serious injuries to her arms and legs just before 5pm on Saturday after being attacked by her pets.
She was brutally attacked by her two Rottweilers, seven-year-old Bronx and four-year-old Harlem, in their Success home on the city’s south side.
Ms Piil’s horrified neighbors tried hitting her fence with a bat and spraying a hose at the large dogs to stop the attack, but to no avail.
Police arrived at least 10 minutes after neighbors first heard Ms. Piil’s screams and officers fired shots in Bronx. The dog was later euthanized by a veterinarian.

Seven-year-old Bronx was shot by police trying to stop the attack, while four-year-old Harlem awaits his fate at a local animal shelter (pictured with the two dogs together).
Harlem was secured in Ms. Piil’s garage and taken to a local animal shelter. He has remained there since Tuesday while the investigation into the attack continues.
Doctors are struggling to save one of Ms Piil’s arms after she suffered extensive blood loss and severe bite wounds to her limbs.
Since the nightmare attack, she and the breeder who sold Bronx have faced cruel criticism online.
The breeder, who wished to remain anonymous, said Bronx comes from a family of show dogs and is known as a “peaceful” pup.
“It’s unlikely that a Rottweiler would attack someone for no reason,” she said The West on Tuesday.
“In this case there must have been a dog fight between the two dogs and I feel like the owner may have intervened to separate the dogs and somehow got caught in the middle.”
“Watching two dogs fight is traumatic for any owner.” Especially trying to separate them on your own.’

The breeder also hit back at claims that Bronx was bred for violence.
“We don’t breed fighting dogs.” We don’t breed dogs for safety reasons. “We breed them primarily for display purposes and to house them in family units,” she said.
“This dog’s bloodlines come from show lines, so they are absolutely not known to exist.” [attack].’
She added that online trolls who accused Ms Piil of neglecting the dogs were wrong and said both dogs were “very well cared for and very well liked”.
Neighbor Bryn Spencer said he and another resident heard Ms Piil’s screams for several minutes before trying to break up the attack.
However, the couple couldn’t enter their backyard without putting themselves in danger.

“I thought about jumping over the fence and going in to try and save her, but apparently there were two Rottweilers there.
“I didn’t have a knife, I didn’t have anything really good to get this dog out.”
“I only had one bat. All I could really do was watch this girl get mauled while I hit the fence.’
Another neighbor pointed a hose at one of the dogs, momentarily distracting him.

Describing the Bronx breed, Ms Piil (above) was a good owner and said the Rottweilers were “very well cared for and very well liked”.
“The dog stood and looked at me for a while, wondering what to do next,” Mr. Spencer said.
“I kept yelling at it and hitting the fence and then it decided, ‘Stuff yourself,’ and it caught the girl and dragged her to the back corner.”
The officers only fired at Bronx after initially attempting to use Tasers to dislodge both of Ms. Piil’s dogs.
Ms. Piil was a well-known dog lover and had a sign on her door that read “Beware of the Rottweiler.”
Her Facebook page is also largely dedicated to her beloved Rottweilers.
In a photo of the two dogs posing in front of unearthed artificial turf, Ms. Piil wrote “My babies” next to a black heart.
In a birthday post from Bronx, Ms Piil wrote: “I couldn’t ask for a more incredible, sassy, loyal, intelligent and protective little buddy.”
“You are my whole world.”
Ms. Piil’s Facebook page was largely dedicated to her two Rottweilers (above). The 31-year-old described Bronx as “incredible, sassy, loyal, intelligent and protective.”

WA Premier Roger Cook said on Sunday dog attacks were “always traumatic for everyone involved” and thanked emergency services.
“We will continue to ensure that we monitor the situation,” he said.
“What we need to do is continue to educate dog owners and people in the community about the dangers – potential dangers – of these types of breeds, but we will just monitor the situation.”
“But thank you to everyone who responded to this difficult situation and my condolences to everyone affected by the event.”
