A family of 10 camping in Idaho was struck by tragedy after a tree fell on their tent, killing an eight-year-old girl who had an identical twin.
The Eastin family of Paul, Idaho, was at the Boise National Forest Pine Campground last weekend when a rotting cottonwood tree fell onto the tent roof, killing Cadence Eastin and the family’s dog, Sybil.
Elmore County Sheriff’s Office deputies rushed to the scene, but the girl was pronounced dead shortly afterward when attempts to revive her were unsuccessful.
When the tragedy occurred, Cadence was with her parents Quin and Natasha Eastin and seven siblings, including Cadence’s twin London.
The sheriff’s office has since revealed that the tree that fell on them was rotten at the base.

Police have consulted with Boise National Forest officials to determine an official cause of the tree fall.
The area where the tree fell had burned during the 2013 Elk and Pony Complex fires.
It left behind several burned out trees that over time had caused them to erode and become unstable.

“Cadence was a really special child. Not only was she always happy and cheerful, but she was also known for her always warm smile.
“She loved animals and they loved her.” “It is particularly telling that the family dog was curled up next to her when the tree fell, taking both their lives,” the family wrote in a tribute.
“Cadence was bright, intelligent and an eager learner. Oddly enough, she was almost always with the adults at family gatherings and seemed to have a higher level of intelligence than one would normally expect of an 8-year-old child. Growing up in a Christian family, she was taught to be kind to others, make friends easily, and avoid arguments with others.”
So far, the page has raised more than $28,000 to help cover funeral costs.
