An exclusive beauty salon frequented by celebrities offers customers a list of over 40 different pronouns to choose from when booking appointments.
The Skin Bar, which has salons in some of Sydney’s most exclusive suburbs and counts famous faces like Abbie Chatfield and Jesinta Franklin among its fans, lists a staggering 43 pronouns on its website.
The drop-down menu includes the defaults “he/him,” “she/them,” and “they/them.”
But even the most powerful of the guards will have their knowledge put to the test as they try to decipher which genders “kit,” “mer,” “ne,” “peh,” “shi,” and “thon” apply to.
If you look closely, many of the pronouns given have their origins in science fiction.
Customers also have the option to select up to four pronouns in another bizarre twist.

“Ae” is apparently a gender-neutral pronoun first used in David Lindsay’s 1920 novel “A Voyage to Arcturus” for an alien race that looked human but was created by air.
“Peh,” on the other hand, can be used by anyone regardless of gender identity or expression and has its origins in a science fiction comic published on the Internet.
However, most of the pronouns on the list come from Tumblr – a microblogging social media site founded in 2007 that is popular among teenage girls.
Terry Barnes, a journalist and political consultant, who written about the topic of pronouns in the pastHe called it an “absurd fad.”
“The thing about pronouns is that they are the way others describe us based on what they see,” he told Daily Mail Australia.
“Other than “he” and “she,” there is no collection of pronouns we can choose from and impose on others.
“If I see you as a woman, you are “she,” or “he” if you look like a man. As a matter of politeness, I can respect your choice of pronouns, but I am not forced to and resent being forced to do so by the woke gender police.
“This absurd pronoun fad may fit the latest gender ideology, but it doesn’t trump biology and millions of years of human evolution.”

Skin Bar founder Samantha Appel admitted that there were “a lot of pronouns indeed.”
“We are a modern dermatology clinic and in this modern world we want to be as comprehensive as possible,” she said.
“Our culture is to never be unkind to those who choose to identify themselves by their pronoun of choice.”
“Our booking platform Timely has these pronouns built in, and we just decided to include everyone.”
Skin Bar has five branches across Sydney, including locations in Bondi, Double Bay and Rozelle.
The company The focus is on skin needling, a treatment that involves piercing the skin with very sharp needles to promote growth and regeneration.
Converts include models like Simone Holtznagel and radio presenter Abbie Chatfield.
