Mann spent three weeks in jail before being released on bail after the video surfaced
A businessman who allegedly “slapped” his girlfriend in the face has been released on bail after CCTV was shown in court.
Marco Furia, 42, had spent three weeks in prison and was charged with two counts of actual assault. He was previously refused bail at Waverley Magistrates Court in Sydney on June 20.
But that all changed when the New South Wales Supreme Court was shown CCTV footage from the Bondi apartment lobby where the alleged incident took place.
“The footage completely contradicts the fact sheet,” Mr Furia’s attorney, Paul McGirr, told the court Daily Telegraph reported.

“My client was never the aggressor and nowhere does it say that Ms. Veraldi repeatedly came into physical contact with him, which is clearly visible.”
Mr McGirr told the court his business nearly collapsed while in prison and that “without the CCTV footage, it would most likely still be there”.
“It’s very scary,” added Mr McGirr. “The pendulum seems to have swung way too far in the other direction.”
CCTV shows Rossella Veraldi grabbing Mr. Furia from behind several times and trying to push and drag him out of the building through an open glass door.
She then appears to shove Mr. Furia against the lobby wall before he allegedly turns around and hits her in the face with his right elbow.
Police claim she was knocked unconscious by what was described as a “blow”.
Mrs. Veraldi falls to the ground and puts her head in her hands while Mr. Furia walks away.
Eventually she gets up, moves through the glass door and lies down on the ground in front of the building.
A few seconds later, Mr. Furia walked out and crouched on a step in front of the block of flats.
Ms Veraldi was later seen outside the building wearing only jeans and a bra, and police were called to the scene, where they arrested Mr Furia.
Mr Furia will appear in court again on September 26.
