Manhunt after prisoner Daniel Briffa escaped from Langi Kal Kal prison
Escapee is sturdily built, 170 cm tall and has curly brown hair

A manhunt is underway in the state of Victoria for an escaped inmate, identifiable by his curly brown hair and tattooed legs, who staged a mysterious prison break last night.
Daniel Briffa, 50, escaped from Langi Kal Kal Correctional Facility in Trawalla, 40 kilometers west of Ballarat, between 7.30pm and 9.30pm on Sunday evening.
Victoria Police told Daily Mail Australia on Monday afternoon that extensive searches were underway in Ballarat and surrounding areas.
Police officers “swarmed” in Victoria Park, near the Ballarat Pony Club, on Monday afternoon, according to a regional news outlet.
However, police confirmed that Briffa was still at large.

They described him as having a strong build, about 170 cm tall, with short brown curly hair, a full beard and mustache. He also has tattoos on his lower legs.
The public has been warned not to approach Briffa despite the fact that he is believed to be dangerous.
He was last seen in a “forest green” tracksuit but may have changed clothes since escaping.
Police said Briffa “fled the center by unknown means” on Sunday night.
He is known to have frequently visited the Werribee, Hoppers Crossing and Tarneit areas in the past.
Briffa was in prison for drug, theft and traffic offenses.
