Phillip Schofield has been sacked from his talent agency after admitting an affair with a young colleague at ITV after stepping down from his position as co-host of This Morning.

The 61-year-old TV star admitted to having had a relationship with a man during his marriage and had previously denied the affair when asked by his agent.

Talent agency YMU, which represents entertainers, athletes and musicians, has fired the former This Morning host 35 years after the bombshell revelation.

In a statement, YMU Group Group CEO Mary Bekhait said, “Honesty and integrity are core values throughout YMU’s business and guide everything we do.”

“Talent management is a relationship based solely on trust.”

“This week we learned important new information about our client Phillip Schofield.

“These facts contradicted what Phillip had previously told YMU and also the outside consultants we had brought in to assist him.”

“As such, we agreed on Thursday to part ways with Phillip, effective immediately.”

Schofield also confessed to lying about the relationship with ITV, his colleagues, friends and his agents at YMU.

He also lied to The Mail on Sunday, the newspaper that published the story earlier this month, to which he apologized “personally for misleading” the story.

In a statement, Mr Schofield said: “The first thing I would like to say is, I am deeply sorry that I lied to you and many others about the relationship I had with someone who worked on This Morning.”

“I was in a consensual on-off relationship with a younger male colleague at This Morning.”

“Contrary to speculation, I met the man as a teenager and was asked to help get him into television, but it wasn’t until he began working on the show that it became more than a friendship.”

“That relationship was unwise, but not illegal.” It’s over now.

Another major blow for the presenter came when Schofield confirmed he was stepping down from his role on the British Soap Awards and retiring from ITV with immediate effect.
