Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O Henderson have responded to a report about a man being released on bail after allegedly killing an ibis and preparing to eat it.
Tom Quach is said to have stuffed the bird in his pocket before riding a stolen bike to his home in Maroubra, east Sydney, and beheaded it.
The Vietnamese national then reportedly hung the native bird in his shower to prepare it for consumption.
“That poor Vietnamese is just trying to make ends meet,” Kyle joked on Thursday on KIIS FM’s The Kyle and Jackie O.
Jackie O then revealed: “I think ibis is actually really smart because they have this pedestrian crossing in Kings Cross and they know that if they cross the street on the pedestrian crossing we’ll stop for them.”

“I can’t tell you how many times an Ibis has crossed the pedestrian crossing in that straight line.” I’ve seen it multiple times.’
Kyle then laughed at his co-host, arguing that if the bird were really smart, it would just fly across the street.
Quach, 60, was released on bail at Waverley Magistrates Court on Wednesday. He was charged with animal cruelty and harming or attempting to harm a protected animal.
His lawyer told the court that his client was confused about the ibis’ conservation status in NSW, having caught and eaten the animal while living in Queensland.
Quach was arrested earlier this year after a video of him trying to put the distressed bird in his wheeled shopping bag went viral on the internet.
Police received calls regarding a man who allegedly caught an ibis outside the Eastwood train station.
Officers were told the man allegedly tied a rope around the bird’s feet and neck and tried to put the bird in a red trolley with wheels.

Several citizens intervened and managed to take the bird from the man who left the area before the police arrived.
Witnesses told police the bird appeared to have a bruised beak and was bleeding, but flew away before police and WIRES arrived.
Quach has been granted conditional bail to return him to his home in Maroubra, but is barred from approaching or possessing any birds.
Police also search Quach’s home no more than three times a week looking for dead or alive birds.
The court had previously heard that Quach had “battered” the ibis because other birds had “chased and attacked” it.

Quach also faces one charge each of possession of a prohibited drug and possession of goods suspected of being stolen.
The court heard that Quach suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and bipolar disorder and had spent weeks in a mental institution only to re-offend days after his release.
Under bail conditions imposed on Wednesday, Quach is required to report to Maroubra Police daily and is subject to a strict curfew from 8pm to 6am.
He has also been ordered to be treated at Prince of Wales Hospital and is prohibited from using drugs and alcohol.
The white Australian ibis, also known colloquially as the ‘garbage chicken’, is a protected species under the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974 and as such must not be harmed or adversely affected.
