A smart woman has revealed how she transformed her rotting garden into her dream outdoor space for £240 using IKEA and B&Q bargains.
Emma Bailey, 35 from Sutton, has over 23,700 followers on her YouTube channel, where she documents her recent garden makeover.
Speak with Current offersthe social media star explained that the space was in dire need of a makeover earlier this year.
She said: “It required some work because the furniture was rotting, a large compost heap damaged the shed and the patio needed a thorough cleaning.”
Although she’s never transformed a garden before, Emma decided to paint her fence a chic shade of dark blue – as she felt the white “washed out the flowers”.

After scouting for the best bargain, Emma settled on Cuprinol’s Urban Slate color – which was on sale at B&Q for £15.
“This darker, off-white color was chosen because it contrasted nicely with the plants I placed in front of it,” she said. “It took a while to get the paint job done, but when it was done I was very happy with how it looked.”
As part of this job, Emma and her partner also had to disassemble their rotting wooden furniture, which they then took to a nearby recycling center.
She explained, “The original furniture was uncomfortable to sit on and got pretty dirty.”
“Also, I found that there would be a lot of bugs and spiders hiding in there, which wasn’t really nice.”
Next, the couple cleared out the compost area next to their outdoor shed, which was painted bright yellow, and disposed of everything.
Emma added: “That rubbish had caused the bottom of the shed to rot so I’m glad it’s gone!” “We now have a special bin for storing garden waste which was long overdue.”
After wiping away all the dirt, the social media star washed down the patio with her garden hose and sprinkled some baking soda over the stubborn stains.

To keep costs down, the couple turned to YouTube for garden design inspiration
Afterwards, Emma happily laid down her blue printed outdoor rug, which she snagged at B&Q for a further £25.
The couple also invested £200 in a new set of outdoor table and chairs from IKEA.

Emma hopes sharing her garden makeover will encourage other budding gardeners to start small allotment gardens.
Although Emma’s allotment is only 6 by 2 metres, she is currently growing potatoes, peas and a blueberry bush there.
She continued, “Once we got the table and chairs together, all we had to do was plant lots of colorful flowers to attract wildlife and pollinators and create a quiet area to sit.”
“I love how it looks because while it was a simple makeover, it was really effective.” It has transformed the back garden and I’m really looking forward to using the space in the summer.”
