A Texas town has lost its Guinness World Record bid for bringing together the largest group of people with the same first name after hundreds of Kyles flocked to the Lone Star State for the count.
The current record was set when 2,325 Ivans gathered in the Bosnian town of Kupreski Kosci in 2017.
The town of Kyle failed to break the world record at Sunday’s Gathering of the Kyles.
After a census and recount of all registrants, the city stated that 1,490 Kyles were in attendance.
“We are so grateful to the hundreds of Kyles who competed in the Kyle Fair A Tex-Travaganza for participating in this world record attempt,” said a spokesman for the city of Kyle.

The event had a global presence, with attendees from Ontario, Calgary, Vancouver (British Columbia) and Saskatchewan (Canada).
“We thank the many Kyles who came to this event and were blown away by their enthusiasm and camaraderie in Kyle City’s fourth and most successful record attempt,” said the announcer.
The City of Kyle plans to break the record for largest eponymous gathering next year at its second Kyle Fair A Tex-Travaganza.
Posting The Call of the Kyles on the city’s Facebook page, a spokesperson wrote earlier this month, “To have any chance of beating this record we need Kyles from far and wide to pitch in.”
“We need big Kyles, little Kyles, young Kyles and old Kyles.”
It’s the fourth time the city of Kyle has attempted to break the record.
The current record was set when 2,325 Ivans gathered in the Bosnian town of Kupreski Kosci in 2017 (pictured).
However, there are strict rules about who can be Kyle in the record attempt.
“We cannot accept middle names or surnames.” “All contestants must use the name ‘Kyle’ — in that spelling,” the organizers wrote.
“Different versions of ‘Kyle’ such as Kyler, Kiel or Kylee will not be accepted.”
“Kyles of all ages can participate.”
The Great Gathering of Kyles took place at the end of the city’s annual Kyle Fair, which spans three days and includes live music, amusement rides and a rib cook-off.
“All Kyles attending the Gathering of the Kyles will receive a free t-shirt and some other goodies, and will be serenaded by one of their own members, Kyle Daniel,” a spokesperson for the event wrote.
“Admission to the Kyle Fair is free, as is entry to all live music performances.”
