and Canada in its first weekend. This will mark an improvement over Bumblebees’ $21.6M domestic opening and Transformers: The Last Knight, which was released in 2017 to $44.6M. The projected $68M to $70M, however, falls far short of the domestic opening for Transformers: Age of Extinction in 2014, which nabbed $100M.
Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts Could Usher In A New Franchise Era Save for Transformers: The Last Knight, the Michael Bay era of the franchise was wildly successful, with 2011’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon representing a box office high at a whopping $1.123 billion. With his 2017 entry failing to satisfy either audiences or critics, however, it was time for a fresh start. Bumblebee introduced a new cast of characters and transported the action back to 1987 and, while a more modest box office performer, the movie was a hit critically, paving the way for a new era.
