The 28-year-old Frenchman was on the verge of a move to the club last summer after a transfer fee was agreed before a wage dispute proved a stumbling block.
United reportedly offered Rabiot a salary that would have made him one of their higher earners but were still unable to meet his demands.
Rabiot – who spent a brief stint in Man City’s youth academy and also played for PSG – enjoyed an impressive season in Italy, scoring 11 goals in 44 games in what is easily the most productive season of his career.
However, he is without a contract at the end of the season and accordingly RMC SportsUnited have made a provisional offer for the 28-year-old as Erik ten Hag is looking to improve his squad for next year.
