Timothy Weah is ruled out of USMNT doubles action in the CONCACAF Nations League as Anthony Hudson calls up AZ Alkmaar’s Djordje Mihailovic to replace the concussion winger
Tim Weah will miss the US CONCACAF Nations League games against Grenada and El Salvador after suffering a concussion during Saturday’s game for Lille.
The 23-year-old suffered a head injury in Lille’s Ligue 1 game against Toulouse on Saturday and the US Football Association said on Sunday that Weah had been included in the French league’s concussion protocol.
After Lille’s 2-0 win, the winger appeared to be fine, as seen in a video shared on Snapchat by team-mate Jonathan Bamba, with the American holding an ice pack to the right side of his head.
Weah is the son of former FIFA Ballon d’Or winner and current President of Liberia George Weah. His absence from the latest US squad leaves interim head coach Anthony Hudson with little cover.
Key players Tyler Adams, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Josh Sargent are already absent through injury.

AZ Alkmaar’s Djordje Mihailovic (24) will replace Weah in the USA squad for the two games
It was announced on Sunday that Weah would be replaced by Djordje Mihailovic from Dutch club AZ Alkmaar.
The 24-year-old forward with six caps will report to the USA team in Orlando, Fla. on Monday. He last played for the USA in December 2020.
Mihailovic previously played 73 games for MLS club Chicago Fire and scored seven goals during his tenure at the Windy City from 2017-2020.
He then moved to Canada to play for CF Montreal, just for one season between 2021 and 2022.
The USA play El Salvador on Friday in Grenada and on March 27 in Orlando.
