Drew Barrymore shares her thoughts on Hugh Grant’s much-discussed interview with Ashley Graham during the red carpet of the 95th Academy Awards last Sunday.
During their brief conversation, which has since gone viral, Grant answered most of Graham’s questions with short, blunt answers, prompting backlash from some fans.
The actress-turned-talk-show host who starred with the British actor in romantic comedy ‘Music And Lyrics’ (2007) claimed he was just himself in the interview.
“If you know Hugh, that’s his way of loving you,” Barrymore, 48, said in his defense during the final episode of The Drew Barrymore Show.
She added, “People are like, ‘Oh, he’s such a curmudgeon and she’s so thrown.’ I think no, that’s Hugh Grant. You think you get that charming movie star, and what you really get is grumpy Hugh. And then you fall in love with grumpy Hugh.”

The daytime talk show host continued: “When he says that, I’ll tell you, he’s absolutely hilarious. He doesn’t mean it negatively. The person Ashley Graham met on this carpet is the real Hugh.”
The Wedding Singer star also confessed that when she first met Grant it took her a few moments to get used to his demeanor and demeanor.
“Probably like Ashley Graham on the carpet, like ‘who am I dealing with?’ And then I thought, “Oh, no, I love you. I want to love you. You won’t let me love you,” Barrymore explained. “When I met him, I thought I love you. I love you for the real you. He’s a hilarious good guy.’
Graham herself also responded to her awkward interview with the Sense And Sensibility star with a brief reply to TMZwhere she seemed to have everything under control.

The catwalk queen also took care to reveal that there were no issues or bad blood between her and Grant after the awkward interview.
It turned out that the only pain she felt leaving the celebratory event was in her feet.
‘I had so much fun. But my feet hurt,” she added.
The 62-year-old Love Actually actor appeared unfazed by Graham’s questions during their pre-show conversation.
Straight from the top of ABC’s countdown to the Oscar show, she asked the longtime star what he likes most about attending the Academy Awards.
Finally, after a moment’s pause, Grant replied, “It’s fascinating… all of humanity is here, it’s vanity.”
She also asked if he would endorse any of the nominees, which he was brutally honest about, replying, “No one in particular.”

In a last-ditch effort to salvage the interview, Graham asked about his cameo in the mystery film Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022).
‘Well, I’m hardly there. I’m in about three seconds,” he simply shot back.
‘Well, you still showed up and had fun, right?’ Graham answered. ‘Almost,’ Grant admitted before the interview was over.
