The wife of Dragons Premiership winner Rod McGregor has called NRL identity Phil Gould following his shocking comments about a concussion earlier this week.
Lynn McGregor was horrified after the Bulldogs’ general manager claimed on Channel Nine 100% footy that the NRL’s use of the independent doctor in the first round of eight games was “the greatest atrocity committed in our game’s history.”
Rod McGregor, 66, a member of the team that won the 1977 Red V grand final, has dementia and according to Lynn, living with him on a daily basis is “like living with a five-year-old”.
“People like Phil Gould need to get their facts straight and speak to people who are living the consequences,” she told News Corp.

Gould claimed on Channel Nine’s 100% Footy that NRL’s use of the independent doctor in round one of eight games was “the greatest atrocity committed at our game in history”.
“Every part of Rod’s day needs to be monitored. I say, “Have you brushed your teeth?” … it’s like living with a five-year-old.”
Ms McGregor admitted that despite knowing the risks involved in playing contact sports, her husband would still have pursued a career in rugby league, such is his passion for the sport.
Unfortunately, the former five-eight had to give up his job as a janitor at the Australian Institute of Sport a few years ago because he “got lost” on the job.
Rod’s boss often called Lynn to inform her that the one-time rugby league hardman was “missing”.
She went on to express her sadness at the current plight of Rabbitoh’s amazing Mario Fenech, who has also been diagnosed with dementia.
Lynn added that her husband “is probably worse off” than Fenech.
“It’s like he’s not my husband anymore… I love Rod dearly. I love him very much but our whole relationship these days is me as his caregiver,” she said.

ARL commission chief Peter V’landys joined the chorus of criticism on Thursday, saying the NRL will not heed its advice and get rid of the independent doctors.
“We will not be influenced by anyone with a non-medical perspective,” he told News Corp.
“We will not compromise on player welfare, we will use all the technology at our disposal, including an independent doctor with a series of TV screens that can see every angle.
