At least six people have been killed and several injured after a gunman opened fire “at a center for Jehovah’s Witnesses” in Hamburg.
The perpetrators are on the run, Focus Online reported, adding that emergency services and doctors were on site.
Armed police officers were also seen at the scene.
An emergency alert for the area appeared to indicate police were warning of a life-threatening situation following a shooting at a church.
The police announced on Twitter that a large-scale operation was underway in the Alsterdorf district.
