New Delhi: Four students of the Don Bosco Technical Institute were arrested for beating a pregnant dog to death in New Friends Colony area in the national capital. The students of the prestigious institute were held after a video purportedly showing the students thrashing the dog and later dragging her carcass went viral.

According to the police, the accused told them that they were bothered by the dog barking at them.

On the basis of a complaint, an FIR was registered under Sections 429 and 34 of IPC and 11(1) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 at New Friends Colony Police Station in Delhi.

In the viral video, a group of male students are seen attacking the dog. In another frame, a student was seen dragging the dog on aground.

BJP leader Tajinder Singh Bagga tweeted the video of the horrific incident in which a group of 20 students of Don Bosco Technical Institute in Zakir Nagar area were seen torturing a pregnant dog.

The 15-minute-long video invited condemnation from the activists and dog lovers. They demanded strict action against the accused students.

“It is horrific to see such brutality by young students who can be seen laughing as they beat an expectant mother to death,” Ambika Shukla, Trustee, PFA was quoted by PTI.

Shukla demanded that the students be rusticated from the college and prosecuted to in accordance to the law. She also demanded action against the institution as not only its students but also its staff were involved.
