New Delhi: Delhi Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Satyendar Jain, who is currently lodged in Tihar Jail in connection with a money laundering case, has moved a Delhi court seeking food as her his religious beliefs. Jain has also alleged that Tihar Jail authorities have also delayed his medical examination due since October 21.

Jain in his plea before the court stated that the jail administration has stopped providing him basic items as per his religious beliefs including mixed seeds, fruits, dates, dry fruits.

AAP leader’s plea stated, “Since the applicant is on a religious fast for the last six months. The dietary intake of such food items are necessary for nourishment and survival. There is a serious risk of protein and iron deficiency if these items are not provided in view of religious fast.”

The plea filed before special judge Vikas Dhull is likely to be taken up on Tuesday. The same court on November 17 had rejected his bail plea in money laundering case.

Jain’s plea also said that delay in his medical checkups and stoppage of diet is violation of his fundamental right to life under Article 21 of the constitution, according to a report in Times of India.

On Monday, Satyendar Jain’s contempt plea against ED was deferred as the the special judge Dhull was on leave. Jain has accused ED of leaking the CCTV footage in which the AAP leader was seen getting foot massage in his Tihar Jail cell despite ED submitting an undertaking in the court.

The plea further stated that Jain has lost 2 kg of weight in last week due to withdrawal of food items that were provided to the AAP leader.
