New Delhi: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday condemned the Mehrauli murder case where a woman was butchered into 35 pieces by her lover and asked the need to “turn” such cases into a Hindu-Muslim issue. He also recalled a similar killing in Uttar Pradesh’s Azamgarh where a Hindu man killed his ex-lover of the same community. In an exclusive conversation with Times Now, the Hyderabad MP also gave his two cents on the controversy around Zakir Naik and upcoming Gujarat Assembly elections.
Talking about the Mehrauli case, he said, “Every heinous crime should be condemned. If any crime is done against woman then it should be condemned. Day before yesterday in Azamgarh, Prince Yadav killed his girlfriend. Every day we hear such crime. Why make Hindu-Muslim.”
BJP has been calling the case a ‘love jihad’ issue as a Muslim man killed his Hindu girlfriend and chopped her body ino 35 pieces. Meanwhile, in Azamgarh, Prince Yadav killed his ex-lover Aradhana and cut her into 8 pieces before throwing them in a well and a pond.
Shifting focus to the controversy around Qatar government’s decision to call Zakir Naik to give a speech before a FIFA World Cup 2022 programme, Asaduddin Owaisi said, “I wanted to ask Indian Government first that 8 India Navy officers are in jail in Qatar, Indian Government should bring them back.”
“They are in jail in Doha and their family is seeking justice first Indian government should call them back and later speak on Zakir Naik. Now the vice-president is in Qatar he must get them back,” he added.
When asked about AIMIM’s contention in the upcoming Gujarat Assembly elections, he said the party is fighting on 13 seats and expecting good results. “Congress is helping BJP to come into power for last 27 years,” he said.
“Why BJP has released the Bilkis rapists? Why BJP has given ticket to convict daughter of 2002 riots? Now who is appeasing whom?” he responded to the charge of Muslim appeasement.
