Azamgarh: Close on the heels of the Shraddha murder case in Delhi’s Mehrauli area shocked the nation, a similar crime took place in Uttar Pradesh’s Azamgarh where a man was arrested for allegedly killing his ex-girlfriend and chopping her body parts into six parts before disposing of them in a well. The accused Prince Yadav had been detained by police on November 19 and was formally arrested following an encounter when he tried to escape the cops while being taken to a pond where he had dumped the head of his girlfriend identified as Aradhana Prajapati.
The murder of the woman came to the fore on November 15 when some locals found a boy in the well in Paschin Patti village. Police later recovered the head of the deceased from a pond about six kilometres away from the village.
Shraddha-like murder case
According to police, Prince strangled Aradhana of Ishaqpur village with the help of his cousin, Sarvesh, and hacked her body into pieces before dumping them into a well on November 10.
Police said the two were in a relationship and Prince got upset after Aradhana’s family married her off to another boy in February. The investigation further revealed that Yadav wanted to punish the victim after she married against his wishes.
Prince’s family members also helped him in the murder and disposing of the body of the 22-year-old woman, said police.
How did Prince Yadav plan the murder?
Police said that Prince had an affair with Aradhna for the past two years and wanted to marry her. However, the accused went to a Gulf country for a job when the woman’s family married her off to another person in February.
When Price came to know about this, he came back and started pressuring Aradhna to break her marriage. But, she was not ready for it. On November 10, the accused convinced her to go to a nearby temple.
After offering prayer at the temple, they consumed food at a restaurant and later took Aradhna to the place of her maternal uncles in Paschim Patti village, said Azamgarh SP, Anurag Arya.
Arya further said that the accused took the victim to a field in his maternal uncle’s village and strangled her to death. In a bid to conceal the identity of the victim, Prince and Sarvesh chopped the body into pieces and disposed of it in the well, added Arya.
